Description
The Academy of Women Entrepreneurs 2024 (AWE), organized by the American Center in Cairo (ACC), Public Diplomacy Section (PDS), U.S. Embassy in Cairo of the U.S. Department of State and implemented by the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the American University in Cairo (AUC-CEI), is an 11 week empowerment program. The program is specifically designed to support female entrepreneurs from targeted geographic areas. The program's main goal is economic growth by empowering women entrepreneurs with basic business management skills and knowledge.
This comprehensive program addresses the unique challenges faced by women entrepreneurs and provides a network that enables women entrepreneurs to thrive. Women entrepreneurs will engage in a rich mix of online and in-person activities, allowing them to gain practical insights, build meaningful connections, and access valuable resources. The first phase of the program will end with a two-day conference in Cairo during Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW 2024). The conference will include a variety of activities, such as discussion sessions, workshops, lectures, guidance sessions, and more.
Program eligibility criteria:
Demographic requirements: Businesswomen aged 25 years and above, targeting residents of the Delta region only (Alexandria, Beheira, Kafr El-Sheikh, Gharbia, Menoufia, Qalyubia, Dakahlia, Damietta, Sharkia, Port Said, Ismailia, Suez) Open to Egyptian citizens as well as other nationalities Residing in Egypt.
Educational background and language proficiency: Must be university graduates.
English proficiency is required: Program materials and sessions will be conducted in both English and Arabic.
Entrepreneurial experience: Participants must be current business owners aiming to expand their business
The project/activity must have been in existence for at least two years.
The business must be a source of annual revenue. Applications are also open to graduates of previous AWE programs.
Commitment: You must commit to the full 11-week program, including bi-weekly online sessions and in-person meetings.
Must attend at least 80% of the program sessions to earn the certificate and be part of the American Center in Cairo (ACC) alumni networking network.
Must be prepared to participate in the two-day AWE conference in Cairo during the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) which will be held during November 2024.
